Championing SEND Education in Newbury

I've spoken to so many families across Newbury whose children have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Time and again, I hear how they struggle to find the right support, specialist staff, and school places. That’s why I was genuinely pleased to see the expansion of Castle School, which will create 32 new classroom spaces — a fantastic step forward for SEND provision in our area.
To make sure this progress is recognised and to push for further improvements, I’ve tabled an Early Day Motion (EDM) in Parliament. It’s a small way to show that we’re listening and committed to securing better support for SEND children and their families.
But we know there’s still more to do. Every child deserves access to a tailored, supportive education, and I’ll keep raising this issue locally and in Parliament. If you've got experiences or thoughts to share, I’d love to hear them. Together, we can keep making a difference.
