Why I Voted Against the Welfare Reform Bill
This week I voted against the Government’s Welfare Reform Bill because, even with last-minute changes, it still risks stripping carers and disabled people of the vital support they need. Instead of helping people into work, the Bill puts up new barriers and risks creating a false economy by adding pressure to the NHS and social care. We need bold, compassionate reform — not cuts that make life harder for the most vulnerable.
