Thatcham Level Crossing has frustrated residents and businesses for years. I’ve tabled an amendment to the Railways Bill to ensure high-delay crossings are reviewed, their impact assessed, and long-term solutions considered.

I met with Network Rail at Thatcham Level Crossing to discuss long-standing issues that residents have raised time and again, and to set out the work already underway to push for change.

After months of frustrating cancellations on the 5.54am Thatcham train, I stepped in to help. One determined commuter got in touch after hitting a wall with every transport body — so I raised it directly with GWR and Network Rail. I’m pleased to say they listened, and as a result, we now have a new early morning train on trial. It’s a small but important win for local passengers — and a reminder that raising your voice can lead to real change.
