Back to School, Back to Westminster

As Parliament returns after the summer recess, it really does feel like a “back to school” moment. The weather has changed, and the trees are starting to change into their autumn colours, schools are open again, and Westminster is full speed ahead.
Looking Back at Summer
Summer recess gave me the chance to spend time out in the constituency, visiting local organisations, community groups, and summer events, as well as a few precious days with my family. I always enjoy the chance to meet people directly and hear what’s happening locally, and of course my team and I kept working hard on casework to help residents with day-to-day challenges.
Looking Ahead
Now that schools have started up again, I’m looking forward to more visits in the coming months, including launching this year’s Christmas card competition and showcasing local artwork in my office.
Alongside this, I’ll be continuing work on some key campaigns:
Equestrian road safety - pushing for safer conditions for horses and riders.
Farmer drop-ins - supporting the rural economy and highlighting the challenges farmers face, particularly around mental health.
NHS priorities - from GP and dentist access through to the urgent need for investment in the Royal Berkshire Hospital.
A34 safety - continuing to campaign for improvements to this vital road.
Chalk stream protections - tackling flooding and pollution, including issues like M4 run-off.
I’m also proud to be hosting a free Job Fair on 26 September in the Council Chamber, Newbury, in partnership with Jobcentre Plus and West Berkshire Council. This will be a fantastic opportunity for local employers and jobseekers to connect. Find out more here.
After a summer spent connecting locally, I feel re-energised and ready to get back to Westminster with the voices and concerns of West Berkshire residents at the heart of my work.
