December Update

December always seems to arrive faster than expected. The final weeks of the year are a blur of meetings, constituency visits, casework, and community events, and suddenly Christmas is just around the corner. It’s a time that reminds us how quickly the year flies by, and how important it is to pause, reflect, and look after one another.
Like many families across Newbury and West Berkshire, I’m looking forward to spending some precious time with my family over the festive period. These moments matter, especially after a year that, for many, has brought challenges alongside the good. Christmas can be joyful, but it can also be difficult, and I know it isn’t easy for everyone.
What I continue to be struck by is the kindness and resilience of our community. From volunteers giving up their time, to neighbours quietly supporting one another, to frontline staff working through the holidays, our area is defined by people who care. That sense of community is something we should never take for granted.
While Parliament slows over Christmas, the work doesn’t stop entirely. Constituency issues don’t take a break, and my team and I will continue to make sure urgent matters are dealt with. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who gets in touch; your emails, letters, and conversations shape my work every single day.
As we head into the New Year, I hope this season brings moments of rest, warmth, and connection. Please do look after yourselves and each other, and reach out if you or someone you know needs support.
I wish everyone across Newbury and West Berkshire a peaceful Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year.
