The A34 is a vital road for our region, but its dangerous junctions—particularly near East Ilsley—have been a worry to local residents more and more. There have been too many accidents and too many lives put at risk. I have been contacted by many of you who have told me you want to see action, and I couldn't agree more.
That's why I met the Minister on 29th January to push for urgent safety improvements. It was clear from that meeting that this is not solely a local issue—it's a regional one. Picking off these dangerous junctions will require a joined-up effort, with MPs from all the constituencies involved making the case together.
In order to keep this at the forefront of the Government's mind, I have reached out to neighbouring fellow MPs Kit Malthouse, Olly Glover, and Olivia Bailey so we can collectively push for meaningful action. We are also speaking to local authorities, National Highways, road safety organisations, and other relevant organisations to ensure that every possible solution is looked at.
The safety of our roads must never be an afterthought. Together, we can make the strongest case for better junction design, clearer signage, and greater safety measures. I will keep fighting to make sure the voice of our community is heard—and that we see concrete progress.
The A34’s dangerous junctions, including those at East Ilsley, Chieveley, and Beedon, have been a growing concern for local residents and road users. I am calling for urgent safety improvements, but I need your help to strengthen the case.
