It’s hard to believe it’s been 25 years since Newbury Library first opened its doors in July 2000 - but this week marks exactly that, and what a brilliant milestone to celebrate.
Newbury Library has been a cornerstone of our community for a quarter of a century - a place not just for borrowing books, but for learning, creativity, connection, and support. Whether it’s children coming for storytime, students revising for exams, or older residents dropping in for advice or a friendly face, the library continues to serve people of all ages across West Berkshire.
It was lovely to see that former library staff were invited back this week to mark the occasion - a real testament to the sense of community and care that’s been built here over the years.
If you’re in town this week, why not pop in and add your own birthday message to the celebration board? Whether it’s a quick doodle or a note about what the library has meant to you, it’s a lovely way to be part of the celebration.
Happy birthday, Newbury Library and here’s to the next 25 years of stories and community!
