Thatcham Post Office Closure

As a Thatcham resident, I know how important the Broadway Post Office is to our town and to the surrounding rural communities. With the surprising news that the branch is scheduled to close on 13 July, many local people will understandably be concerned about the impact this will have on access to essential services.

The Thatcham town centre post office provides a wide range of services that simply aren’t available in the smaller outlets nearby, including passport applications, savings products and other specialist counter services. Losing this site would remove vital access to key postal, banking and everyday services for residents who rely on having a full‑service Post Office close to home.

I have written to Post Office Ltd to request clarity on why this decision has been taken, what temporary arrangements can be put in place to maintain access to the full range of services, and whether there are plans for a new permanent location in Thatcham Town Centre.

This Post Office plays a crucial role not only for Thatcham residents but also for the wider rural population who depend on it. I will continue to press for clear answers and practical steps to ensure continuity of service, and I will share updates as soon as I receive a response.
