Back British Farming

Today is Back British Farming Day, when MPs across the country come together to show our support for the farmers who feed us, care for our countryside, and are the backbone of rural communities like ours here in West Berkshire.

I’m proud to wear my wheat sheaf pin, a simple symbol of gratitude for the hard work, resilience, and dedication shown by British farmers in the face of enormous challenges.

In recent months, I’ve been meeting with farmers across Newbury and West Berkshire to hear first-hand about the pressures they face. From rising costs and supply chain issues, to concerns about trade deals, mental health, and environmental regulation, the message is clear: farmers need certainty and support to keep producing high-quality, sustainable food while protecting the land we all cherish.

That’s why, in the coming weeks, I’ll be hosting farmer drop-in sessions in Parliament, creating space to raise concerns directly at the national level.

Backing British farming is not just about policy in Westminster. It’s about supporting local businesses, buying local produce, and recognising the contribution our farmers make to both the economy and the environment.

As your MP, I’ll always stand up for British farmers, both here in West Berkshire and in Parliament.
