Visiting Basingstoke Hospital

I recently visited Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital to speak directly with frontline NHS staff and see for myself the incredible work they carry out every single day.
During my visit, I met with Alex Whitfield, the hospital’s Chief Executive, toured the plant room, and spent time in the Emergency Department and Urgent Treatment Centre. It was a privilege to hear first-hand about the challenges the hospital faces, from funding pressures to the urgent need for building upgrades.
It’s always humbling to witness the dedication, skill, and compassion of our NHS workforce. Despite the immense pressure they are under, the staff continue to go above and beyond for patients in our community. The commitment, care, and professionalism they show is something we should never take for granted.
I will continue to push in Parliament for the investment and resources our health services so desperately need, both to improve facilities and to support the dedicated professionals who make our NHS what it is.
