This is Farming - Real People, Real Impact

Today in Parliament, I hosted “This is Farming”, a drop-in event that brought the voices of real farmers right into the heart of Westminster.
It was a fantastic turnout, with representatives from the NFU, CLA, Yellow Wellies, and several farmers, including Dan Willis, George Brown, John Ashman, Tim Hayward, and Jaimie Fisher joining MPs and staffers from across the House.
Each stall told a story of resilience, challenge, and pride in the farming community. We talked about mental health, the importance of keeping family farms viable, and the need to shift how farming is seen in policy discussions. Behind every field and farm gate is a family working incredibly hard to feed the nation and care for our countryside.
Events like this remind us why it’s so important to keep rural voices at the centre of our politics. Farming isn’t just an industry; it’s a way of life, one that underpins our food security, economy, and environment.
I want to thank everyone who took part and shared their experiences so openly. The next step is keeping this conversation going, ensuring these insights lead to real action to strengthen our rural economy and support those who make it thrive.
